Community Work

At SFSC, we develop new community support systems that bring about enhanced psycho-social well-being of the community.

Sowers Project

A community project that empowers home-bound women, from low-income disadvantaged backgrounds, with an avenue to earn money and supplement their family income.

These ladies use upcycled material (e.g. banners) to create designs and sew items such as tote bags, pouches and pencil cases.

Since 2010, this has been a successful initiative with the support of community partners such as the Movement for Intellectually Disabled of Singapore (MINDS), the National Environment Agency (NEA) and North West Community Development Council (NWCDC).

Asset Based Community Development (ABCD) Project

A community project that strives to rally disadvantaged residents within the Sembawang community to come together, plan events and drive initiatives that will benefit their own community.

Numerous outreach activities are planned on an annual basis, including educational programmes for children, community buffet lunches, christmas gatherings, mother’s day and children’s day celebrations.

This has resulted in valuable collaborations with several community stakeholders such as Canberra Community Club, the Covenant Community Methodist Church (CCMC), Mayfair Park Neighborhood Committee and National Library Board (NLB).
